I finally delivered all our Christmas gift baskets today.  After a weekend full of baking and making and delivering I am TIRED!  But it was fun and now that I have given them to everyone I can post about it in time for Christmas in case you want to make these yourself!  I first got this idea here but wanted to turn them into Christmas gifts instead.  No one ever thinks about bubbles in winter, but what better time of year to get outside and have some fun in the cool Christmas weather!  I LOVE how they turned out.  These make the cutest personalized gifts. The beads make them festive and fun.  I splurged on a few glass Christmas themed beads and mixed them in with wooden, glass, and plastic beads. I also wanted bubbles that looked and smelled like Christmas and the green peppermint scented bubbles look and smelled great.  Here’s how I made everything.

Gather your supplies

Bubble Wands:

• 18 gauge floral wire
• various beads of your choice
• monogram beads or tags with letters on them (the tags I used I found in the wood section at Hobby Lobby)
• a pair of needle nose pliers and a pair of round nose pliers (for the twirl at the end)

Bubbles:

• mason jars or something to hold them in
• dawn dish soap (green color)
• glycerine (you can get this in the pharmacy section of the grocery store)
• green food coloring
• peppermint extract
• a hole punch and string to attach the tags

• Bend your wire at about the 1/2 way point and use one side to make your Christmas shape. The easiest way to do this is to draw the shape on a piece of paper and then, using your pliers, bend the wire to match the lines of your drawing. I made a tree, gingerbread man, ornament, snowman, candy cane and a present. You could also just do circles if the shapes are too much for you
  

  Then twist the 2 ends together so you have your wand shape.

  

  Then string your beads onto your rod. Leave about 1 and 1/4 inches at the end to finish it.

  

  Then holding the wand flat in front of you bend the wire up towards you at a right angle.  Then slide the monogram tags onto the wand.

  

  Holding the tag flat, use your round nose pliers to make a spiral out of the rest of the wire.

  

  Then pinch it flat to secure the tag and beads in place. And you’re done!

  Here they are all done!

  Now for the bubbles.  This makes 1 large batch of big blowing bubbles:

• 1/2 gallon of water
• 3 to 3 1/2 cups of dawn dish soap
• 5 tablespoons of glycerine
• 4 tablespoons of peppermint extract
• a few drops of green food coloring to deepen the color.

Then this is the most important of all: Stir together then let the mix sit for 24 to 48 hours .  It helps it bind together for better and bigger bubbles.  Pour in jars and your done.

These make a cute gift by themselves or make a great addition to any Christmas basket!
