As I was rinsing out my empty coffee creamer bottle to go into recycling this morning, it occurred to me that it was the perfect snowman shape. I have four sick kiddos in the house today so a craft was just what we needed! Thankfully I had a few other bottles I had saved so I just gathered everything else and away we went.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- a few empty coffee creamer bottles with the tops (rinsed and dryed)
- some scrap felt
- buttons
- googly eyes
- paint pens or sharpies
- a hot glue gun and glue
- cotton balls and beans
OK, so here is how we made them. I cut a strip of felt long enough to go around mr. snowman and then had the kids help me cut the slits on the end to make the scarf fringe. I also had the kids decorate the tops for their hats. Then i helped them glue on the eyes, nose, buttons, and scarf (so they didn’t burn their fingers). Then we added a smile and arms with our paint pens. Last we filled them up with beans and cotton balls and the kids are now shake, shake, shaking them everywhere! (Note: I have little ones who put everything in their mouth so I did seal the tops shut with the hot glue to make sure we have no escaping beans!)
This was super easy and they turned out so cute, great for a Christmas sick day.
Also if your kids are past the whole shaker bit, these make really cute banks, prayer request jars, or trinket storage.

I’m stopping over from TGIF, and I LOVE this! I was just thinking of doing some craft with cotton in bottles, and this is a great idea! I am pinning it, and I would love for you to share this on my Eco Kids Link up: http://organicaspirations.blogspot.com/2012/11/kids-learn-and-play-and-eco-kids-tuesday.html
These are so cute! And I love how you recycled with something you already had laying around =-) Thanks for linking up to TGIF! I featured this at TGIF this week here: http://www.livinglifeintentionally.blogspot.com/2012/12/tgif-linky-party-57.html
