Bully the Ball Catching Bull Cow: A Free Upcycled Project

I am in love with this little guy!  I needed something fun to round out our C is for Cow unit and so Bully was born.  Caleb named him and they literally have played this game for 2 days straight!  It is easy, free, and something that little hands can help you make.

Here’s how:

What you need: A large square-ish container with a large lid, 4 toilet paper rolls (or 2 paper towels rolls cut in half), A roll of masking tape, a brown and pink piece of construction paper, a black sharpie, 2 googly eyes, and glue (we used hot glue because it is FAST!

  1. Cover your container with masking tape (this is a good project for little hands the pulling and tearing off of tape is great for dexterity and they can just layer it on the best they can- the more uneven the better!)
  2. Cut slits in your paper rolls and fold them out to look like flowers.  Then lay the slits flat onto the bottom of the container and tape them to it to make legs.
Then cover the rest of the rolls with the tape.

  3. To make the tail roll a piece of tape up and fold in half and tape to the back.  Cut little slits at the end for hair and color black.

  4. Add horns by rolling up the piece of brown paper and then taping it closed.  Cut each one at an angle and then cut three slits at the bottom and tape them to the top on each side.

  5. For the nose trace the lid onto the pink piece of paper, cut it out and draw your nose and mouth on it.  Then tape around the edge of your lid to cover the plastic edge (so it matches the rest of the cow) and glue your nose piece on the front.
  6. Make spots with the sharpie.  I outlined them and then had Caleb color them in.  I had to help towards the end because his hands got tired.

  7. Then just glue on your eyes and he’s ready to go!

To play the game, just gather up all the spare balls that you have that will fit inside and then take turns tossing them in and see who can get the most in the open mouth.  Hours of fun just waiting to be had!

Enjoy!
