It is time to evaluate your house, is it standing on solid unshakable ground?

In the book of Revelation we are told that in the end of days there is a specific group of people who are encouraged to endure persecution patiently. These are the people of God, and they have 2 distinct qualities about them.

Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus. Revelation 14:12

The saints here are defined as those who keep the commandments of God and believe in Jesus.  These 2 qualities, stacked one upon the other will lay the unshakable foundation in the days ahead and distinguish the children of God from the rest of the world. This is and has always been the Gospel. It was for Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, the Israelites, the disciples and now for us! The gospel is not just a message of salvation from sin but a call to action for those who enter into it.
We must be willing to take an honest assessment of our life and determine how much of it is ordered and lived out through the whole word of God.  Because, like Abraham, we want our faith counted to us as righteousness.  It was his belief in God’s ability to keep His promises that caused Him to live a set apart life, walking out his faith through obedience to God’s word.  His obedience is not what saved him, but rather it was the fruit of his faith in God, and it has always been through faith that we are saved.

Is your faith a part of your life, or is it the whole of it?  Does your life reflect that faith through living obediently to God and His commandments?  The hours that you spend with your friends, family, and children, how many of them are spent preparing and encouraging one another to walk grounded and secure in the word of God?  Do they know how to live and love through obedience to God alone, so much so that when the ground begins to move, they have the power to stand and not be swept away?

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. James 1:22-25

We will be blessed in the long run, but in the here and now there will also be a price to be paid for faith expressed through obedience.

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.  For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Matthew 16:24-25

He is clear that we are to take up our crosses daily if we are to follow Him. Which begs the question, if there is no heavy cross on your back than where exactly are you headed?

It is time for the body of Christ to go beyond salvation and enter into the deeper things of God.  Salvation is the door into the Kingdom, walking through it is step one. The rest of the journey is learning what His Kingdom is and how to live, walk, and abide in it.

Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And God permitting, we will do so.  Hebrews 6:1-3

We can’t dwell in the Kingdom of God and live according to our rules, walk based on our understanding, and act according to how we feel.  If we are living this way it simply reveals the Kingdom in which we stand.  We are either in God’s Kingdom or we are living in our own.

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other… Matthew 6:24

Are you willing to turn your kingdom upside down to enter into His?

Now, more than ever, we need to be prepared, practiced, and clear in the instructions of our Father. Just like a newborn child that is in the process of birth we are experiencing times of contracting, pain, and uncertainty.  These are the birth pains the Father has allowed to force His children out of what is comfortable and temporal and into the eternal and everlasting Kingdom of God. He loves us too much to leave us where we are because He sees what is ahead. He is pressing in all around us to bring us into our fruition and maturity as His sons and daughters. So that we may be a people who are ready to stand on truth holding fast to the testimony of Jesus and the obedience of God’s commands.

When all that can be shaken begins to move under your feet, will you have the strength to stand?  He is calling us out of darkness into His incorruptible light. Are you ready?
